Water based RAL K7 as an innovation in the colour card industry
RAL proudly announces the launch of the RAL K7 water based colour fan, setting an important milestone for innovation and sustainability. With the launch of the bestseller on a water based basis, RAL emphasises its commitment to a more sustainable economy and the start of the conversion of its product range to water based solutions. The fan has been developed in close cooperation with the companies Schupp Musterkarten and Haering.
The RAL K7 CLASSIC colour fan visualises the colour spectrum of the historically grown RAL CLASSIC colour collection with its 216 proven colour shades. All over the world, manufacturers from a wide range of sectors code their products in RAL CLASSIC colour shades. The RAL K7 colour fan is therefore an important tool for a common colour language for different production and application stages.
"With the introduction of RAL K7, we are launching the first high-gloss water based colour fan. By switching to water based paint technology, we can significantly reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and lower emissions," says Markus Frentrop, Global Head of RAL COLOURS.
"Compared to the conventional production of colour cards, our innovative technology saves around six tonnes or around 90% of VOC emissions in the production of an annual quantity of RAL K7, which corresponds to a CO2 equivalent of around 36 tonnes. The changeover is therefore a significant step towards environmental compatibility and the realisation of our sustainable corporate strategy at RAL that can be experienced by our customers and partners."
The innovative water based paint is also more UV-resistant and therefore offers better protection against yellowing of the colours compared to conventional nitro paints. In addition to the advantage that water based paints are particularly low in solvents and odour, RAL's water based shades also impress with their high brilliance.
On top of this, all RAL colour samples are manufactured in Germany in compliance with high test and quality standards to ensure the usual precision and reliability and to support the advantages of the production site in terms of social and ecological sustainability. To improve the international usability of the fan, each colour is coded and given an English colour name on the front. Additional language options are offered as separate pages within the fan.
